Happy Halloween everyone! Probably not surprisingly to anyone who has read my posts about the Muppets and Charlie Brown, but I am a kid at heart and, therefore, I love this holiday. As I type I’m sitting in a Super girl costume, complete with a red cape. I think that it is important to play dress-up whenever possible regardless of your age. Sometimes it is just really fun to pretend to be someone other than yourself, especially when that person can fly- lol.
So what is everyone else doing?
Quick update: I still haven’t heard anything from the lady who works for Anderson Cooper but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I was babysitting today and a little girl said one of the cutest things. She isn’t one of my regular clients, she is the friend of a brother and sister duo that I care for and her mother needed a favor so when I picked up them, I also picked up the little friend. When we got into their house brother and sister were fighting while the friend watched, tired of the bickering I said, “Guys can you stop fighting? You know some people aren’t lucky enough to have a sibling. Look at me, I am an only child.”
At this point the friend looks up at meand says, “Oh you’re a lonely child?”

No this in not homage to the late 1990s song of that name. I was just thinking that, after almost two years of hearing about our next president and wondering who it will be it’ll all be over in one week. Well that is assuming that there isn’t a repeat of the 2000 recount, in which case we should be finding out our next commander in chief in late December. Still, calling me an optimist, I have faith in our government to the extent that that situation will not arise again.
I personally hope the winner is Obama because frankly I don’t know that I can handle more of the Bush years, and while it is true that I started out as an avid Clinton supporter, I’m ready for a change and am now Obama all the way.

I know this is going to sound really childish but I’m sitting here watching It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Perhaps worse than the fact that I am watching the program is that for almost the entire month I’ve been wondering when it is going to air.
I know that at 22 years old, this should not be the thing that I look forward to, and if it was the only thing I looked forward to in my life I would think I needed psychiatric help, but it isn’t. It’s just the Peanuts’ Specials are like a trip back to childhood, at least they are for me. An Hour or so every holiday when life can be simple. At least that’s what it means to me. Maybe I’m wrong though, maybe I do need therapy.

So three hours after the birthday party ended, I had showered, shaved, washed and styled my hair, squeezed into spanx to make me look awesome in a red velvet mini-dress, splattered on my makeup, and was out the door and on my way to my cousin’s engagement party.
When I arrived to the venue, the path from the parking lot to the party room was lined with crystal-looking plastic ice cubes. It looked classically beautiful as did the party room, which was decorated in hues of red. On the path, needless to say according to Murphy’s law, a brisk wind hit me and knocked out my hair. So after getting in and quickly kissing everyone hello, I ran into the ladies’ room and redid my hair. Finally I was ready to party.
It was a wonderful time with my family and I’m glad I went. I do wish however, that I had eaten before because at the last minute my beautiful but cooking-challenged cousin decided that she would not get the event catered, but rather cook everything herself. I was starving since I ate very little all day so that I wouldn’t completely ruin my diet with all of the food I’d eat there. I scarcely survived for 5 ½ hours on bottled water and several tomato slices.
The best part of the night would have been when the future bride’s younger sister, having had too much to drink, told a nonsensical story and then broke a Champaign glass doing “wooh cheers!”
I say that would have been the best part because on any other day that would have been tops but I happened to be talking to my cousin’s aunt about my struggles finding a job and she told me that she was going to give my information to her cousin who works for Anderson Cooper!!
So that moment took the cake and made everything I went through that day worth it. So everyone keep their fingers crossed and if I get the job I can have backstage stuff from a job with the Coop. (And I promise I will include any and all gossip!)

Yesterday morning I did a Birthday party. As a babysitter with close relationships with my clients there are times when I am hired to be there for a birthday party. I suppose you could say I’m the Entertainment, but I guess the actual description would be assistant child wrangler. Anyway so yesterday from 12:30 – 3:30 I was with something like 19 little girls ages ranging from 3-8, screaming listening to Hannah Montana and other Disney pop tarts, and keeping the little ones happy.
It isn’t the hardest job in the world but it is tiring and is far from glamorous. Most times I usually just hang out for the rest of the day after these parties or do another babysitting job at night but this time I had another party.
Stay tuned for that…

My dog, who will be turning 12 in January, was never really big with tricks. He liked the idea of playing with a stick but it wasn’t so much fetch as, “look I’ve got a stick chase me I’m your cute puppy.” He will give you his paw but it’s on his time not yours. Well recently, in his older age, he’s added play dead. The only problem is we don’t like it.
You see, my beagle has become a very heavy sleeper, in fact he’s practically in a coma at times. We have to yell to wake him like a little old man, which I guess he kind of is.

One of my friends met New York Yankees’ catcher Jorge Posada today. If you are interested in the story, here’s the link. Btw, I’m the bff mentioned.

Useless information: High School Musical star Vanessa Anne Hudgens auditioned for American Idol before string in the movies. As another one of my friends put it, “it makes sense that she didn’t make it b/c she can’t sing”
So everyone from Dancing with the Stars keeps getting hurt, to the point where they think there might be a curse. One of the entertainment shows even got a medium on because most of the injuries happened in one particular spot of the dance floor. The medium said it was haunted. I think that they probably over wax

My best friend’s sister is trying to be her. I know that sisters try to emulate each other, it is fun being like big sister when you are a child, but this isn’t the case this time. You see my friend is in her early 20s and her sister is thirty.
Anyway here’s what the big sis is doing:
*My friend has long hair, her sister (who had a boy hair cut and bobs for as long as I’ve known them) *decided to grow her hair.
*My friend joins weight watchers, her sister joins.
*My friend gets a tattoo, and you guess it. The woman who said she was done with tattoos when she was like 18 now wants to get another tattoo.
It’s kind of funny, kind of sad, but I had to share this silliness.

I just want to thank everyone who took the time to read my blog from the bottom of my heart, for all the wonderful and encouraging comments following yesterday’s blog. Hearing such kind words really helps for some reason. Also, the idea that people could be so wonderful and so caring for someone they really don’t know, except as an author on a page, it really restores my faith in this world and in the kindness of others.
I do believe that prayers and concern for others is what creates miricles and I will keep you all updated on the situation. Thank you all again
