Coming up in Feb.

images.jpgSo in my quest to become a valid and profitable blog I was thinking that I would give every month (or week depending on length) a theme. In the Spirit of this, I’m going to start by making February all about eco-friendly tips.

We all need to conserve to protect our planet and there are some really easy things that every single person can do every day to help achieve this. The bonus is that many times these tips will lead to you saving money as well, which in this economy is always a good idea.

So I hope you all enjoy ECO-FEB starting tomorrow.

eep.jpgHuge news!

David Cook’s Album was just certified Platinum!

To put this into perspective, David Cook (the album not the man) only came out nine weeks ago!

If that doesn’t seem fast Jordin Sparks, who won American Idol in May of 2007 just went platinum about 2 months ago!

I suppose now the only question is when we he receive the actual Platinum record?

bad joke of the day

A married couple went to the hospital to have their baby delivered. Upon their arrival, the doctor said that the hospital was testing an amazing new high-tech machine that would transfer a portion of the mother’s labor pain to the baby’s father. He asked if they were willing to try it out. Both said they were very much in favor of it.

The doctor set the pain transfer to 10 percent for starters, explaining that even 10 percent was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced before. But, as the labor progressed, the husband felt fine and asked the doctor to go ahead and kick it up a notch. The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20 percent pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine.

The doctor then checked the husband’s blood pressure and was amazed at how well he was doing . At this point they decided to try for 50 percent.

The husband continued to feel quite well. Since the pain transfer was obviously helping the wife considerably, the husband encouraged the doctor to transfer ALL the pain to him.

The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain, and the husband had experienced none. She and her husband were ecstatic.

When they got home they found the UPS man dead on the porch.att00062.jpeg

Professional life:

planet-in-pril.jpg

In 1990, Cooper Began working as a fact checker for Channel One, a news program made to air in classrooms. After working six months as a fact-checker, 22-year-old Cooper quit the job, secured a fake press ID, bought a video camera and headed on his own to Africa to cover the crisis in Somalia. Soon selling his work to Channel One, who eventually made him chief international correspondent. In 1994, he became a reporter for ABC News.  At the age of 28, Cooper was their youngest correspondent. In September of 1999, Cooper became the permanent anchor of World News Now, while continuing to work as a correspondent.  In need of a break, Cooper took a two year detour from news into the world of reality TV and became the host ABC’s reality show, The Mole for its first two seasons.

After terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Cooper realized his true calling was in helping people tell their stories and in late 2001 was hired by CNN to work as an anchor alongside Paula Zahn on American Morning with Paula Zahn.  In September 2003, Cooper took over the evening show with Aaron Brown and it was renamed Anderson Cooper 360°.  Cooper gained notoriety and a huge fan base while covering Hurricane Katrina in late 2005, which subsequently led to Anderson Cooper 360 being expanded into a two hour show.

Tragedy:

Published by cherrylemonade under TV Edit This

carter-and-anderson.jpg5.jpg

In January 1978 Wyatt Cooper, passed away during heart bypass surgery after suffering several heart attacks during the holidays in 1977. Anderson was only 10, and his older brother, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, only 12.  Less than ten years later, on July 23, 1988, Carter a committed suicide jumping from the terrace of Gloria Vanderbilt’s Manhattan apartment, while Vanderbilt stood mere feet away begging him to stop.  The death was later believed to have been a sleepwalking incident caused by insomnia and stress from a recent breakup mixed with allergy drug, Proventil.  Both deaths had a profound effect on Cooper — personally and professionally. It has been reported that his brother’s passing was what inspired him to pursue a career in journalism.

BIOGRAPHY OF ANDERSON COOPER

anderson41.jpganderson41.jpgI’ve decided that I would do a biography about my favorite newsman CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Since he’s going to be busy reporting every possible fact about soon to be President Obama it’s only fair that he get a write up to this week.

 Early life:

Anderson Hayes Cooper was born June 3, 1967, New York City the fourth son of designer and railroad heiress Gloria Vanderbilt and her second with actor and author Wyatt Emory Cooper. Though born into wealth, the teenage Cooper worked summers as a waiter. He pursued his first job, at age 11, as a Ford model because he “wanted to…be financially independent.”  He attended Dalton School in Manhattan and graduated with honors from Yale in 1989 with a BA in political science.

your opinion counts

In an attempt to appease readers and gain readership I am trying to find out what would be interesting to blog about. I figure if I can find something really fascinating or even mildly intriguing then my traffic will go up and I can get more money.  Some people could think of this as selling out but when you think about it, I want to be a journalist and with that job someone, or a lot of someones for that matter, are going to be telling me what to write.

So I’m up for suggestions. You guys have a chance to be my editors.

january 16th post

Let me start really quick by thanking everyone who told me how to find my traffic stats. That was a big help and they aren’t as pathetic as I had thought they’d be-lol.

Ok now on to other things…

It is 2 degrees today! That is freezing and there is no way to bundle yourself enough to go for a walk to exercise safely. It also isn’t safe to go to the gym because you get sweaty and then go out into the cold, even if it’s just walking to the car, you can get sick and with no insurance and limited resources that’s not a good thing.

huh?

How many people read my blog? It sounds conceited doesn’t it? But seriously I have to wonder how many people read this blog because I’ve just been informed that my pay per post has been changed to $2 per 1000 readers.

The laughable part is this announcement comes after I write about how money is getting tighter in my house and now there is even less of it. Well at least it would be laughable if I didn’t feel so desperate.

I suppose I’ll know soon enough if I have 1000 or more viewers if I make any money after this month.

Well things are getting a bit scary around here

It has been rather well documented on this blog that I have a B. A. in journalism but still haven’t gotten a job in the field do to the economy. I have said many times (both here and in my life) that I am luckier than most in this world, however, because I have my babysitting to sustain me and my parents to protect and provide. That is jeopardized now however.

My father as lost his job. It’s all very political and underhanded as of now I’m not getting into the details about the actual firing. What I will say is that based on my mother’s salary we can’t live, we can’t even cover rent so if he doesn’t get a job (preferably his old one back) they will be dipping into limited savings very shortly.

There really isn’t anything anyone can do here, unless you have a journalism lead for me, I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
