tip 4

Most people will say that they recycle, which is a good thing. But the truth of the matter is that they usually only do it when they find it convenient for them to do so. I however, have been known to carry a Starbuck’s Frappachinno cup for hours until I can find a recycle can.

I am not a martyr I just want to show that it is possible to recycle any time.

tip 3

In addition to yesterday’s post…

I forgot two major things about liquid soap use. When purchasing liquid soap only buy it in a dispenser once. Then buy the giant refill packages and reuse the dispensers because they are still perfectly good. These refills are available almost everywhere you can buy soap and I’m pretty sure they are sold by every brand. You get a lot more soap for your money this way and you also aren’t getting rid of countless bottles a year.

Then when the dispenser does have to tossed, RECYCLE it. Always recycle if it is at all possible.

tip 2

15616-01.jpgSince I started with using the bathroom, the next logical step is washing your hands.

As of right now, I don’t have any tips on bar soap however if you use liquid soap, chances are you are using too much of it. What you want to do is put a rubber band (or a pigtail holder) right under where you pump. This reduces the amount of soap you get on your hands, but it is still enough to get a good wash.

Ok so how does this help save money and the planet?

Well the more soap you use, the more soap you have to buy so doing this lasts twice as long and therefore you buy half as much soap. It also reduces the amount of packaging that is wasted, thus less waste and a better planet.

This might sound a bit gross but you waste a lot of water flushing a toilet. Now I’m suggesting that you stop using that bathroom or that you start using the backyard like an animal. Remember these are supposed to be easy changes that can be made. That being said, there are two things that we do in the bathroom and when doing the first you do not need to flush.

If you are a female you only use a tiny bit of paper and males use none therefore if you do this body function two or three times (depending on your water power)  without flushing there will not be any clogging and you save water which translates into less water waste and a cheaper water bill.
